Assessment and Treatment for Knee Pain

As with every assessment, I will conduct a thorough history assessment. Asking questions like ‘when did the pain start?’, ‘what is the pain aggravated by?’, ‘What is the pain eased by?’ and ‘Can you describe the pain?’, will all provide me with clues that will help to piece together a diagnosis.

We will then conduct a physical assessment. Watching you squat, lunge, or perhaps run, as well as conducting specific tests like hamstring capacity, hamstring length, or special tests to detect cartilage or meniscus damage.

Once we have ascertained a potential cause, it may be necessary for me to apply some hands-on treatment; like massage or joint mobilisations. However, we WILL go through some strength and range of motion exercises for you to continue after the session until we meet again to re-assess, progress or adapt your plan.

If you’re a runner I try to build rehab into your warm up. If you know your warm up could be improved (or started!) try my follow along warm up.

Let’s have a chat about how we might approach your knee pain - drop me a message.
