Hip Pain

Hip pain requires a thorough assessment, starting with an in-depth history of your pain. Many hip conditions present with similar physical symptoms, therefore building a picture of how your pain began, possible reasons why, aggravating factors, family history of hip complaints and previous sporting activity. Age & gender also provide clues that help piece together a jigsaw diagnosis.

Common causes of hip pain

  • Hip dysplasia

  • Femoral Acetabular Impingement

  • Labral tear

  • (Osteo) Arthritis

  • Referred pain from the back

  • Gluteal tendinopathy

  • Greater trochanteric bursitis

Following the assessment, which will have a key aim of ascertaining what you CAN do, we will aim to build upon that foundation with rehabilitation exercises. Rehabilitation is always progressive and I believe in setting small micro-targets to inform when rehabilitation should be progressed and when our next session should take place.
