How will sports therapy help you?

Sports Therapist conducting an assessment of sports injuries

Understanding your condition, how it effects you, what you want to achieve and when, are crucial to successful journey to your goals. During the first session we will discuss your complaint in detail for me to gain a thorough understanding.

Consultation

This will involve movement and muscular tests. Finding objective markers that could be contributing to your complaint is fundamental to you seeing progress. These tests might range from basic range of movement to strength or capacity tests. You can’t improve without finding the source of the complaint.

Physical Assessment

Physiotherapy techniques for ankle sports injury rehabilitation

This may involve hands on techniques like massage and manual therapy, trigger point therapy or taping techniques. Deciding which technique is right for you will be dictated by what I find during assessment and what will bring us closer to your goals.

Treatment

Movement is medicine and is proven to have the greatest impact on musculo-skeletal conditions, whether you’re prescribed movement based stretches or lifting weight to gain strength. Usually you will be given exercises that you will be able to do at home, at work, whilst you wash up or clean your teeth! It has to work for you and will reinforce the work we do in sessions.
